Faux Fur
I have been enjoying the faux fur my bud Marcie gave me awhile ago---there were times I admit when I was hating that hard to work with shit....but to put a little edge around a hat, my dear, it's simply divine! And I am getting ready to make a handwarmer for myself in white with the black fur. It's been great to work with something that is a challenge.
So I suppose winter must be my favorite season because I've been giving away hats and scarves to people left and right. It's nice to have something to help a friend stay warm.
The hat I worked on for myself? Almost entirely completed in the dr. office.
Talk about wise use of time.
Keep on knittin!

Blacktlight of Backlight?
I am knitting the hat from the yearn Kat gave me and I can't remember the name of it...backlight? Blacklight? I don't know, but it's a florescent color mix and I will be the only one on the planet who will wear it. And I WILL wear it.
I am doing Christmas laundry and thinking of making my bed for the holiday..except the dogs and cat are still in it.
Just glad it's over and glad I made it without going nuts. How very unlike the many good Christmases I spent with mom and dad. How very unlike my childhood and all it's decorated magic! Ah well! I can't stand the whole idea of it anymore and it's just as well. I did finish Pops' hat and put a pom pom on top. I have so many things to do. That's the best present ever.

Big Thanks to Kat!
Kat drew my name for Christmas at work, and outdid herself. She got me tons of yarn. I can hardly wait to start a hat and maybe wristlets. Something I haven't done in a while.
I am working on a hat right now for my dearest friend at work, Pops. I just love him. What a freakin' kindred soul. Not only is he one of the most talented artists I have ever met, he likes the same music as me, and we have so much to talk about. I love that guy. So nice to have a friend at work like that.
A woman I met the other day mentioned she might have some yarn to give away and I said, promptly, I AM A SERIOUS KNITTER. And the more I thought about it the more I liked it. It's true. I am a SERIOUS KNITTER. Thank God for this craft. I may never fully master it, I may never make a big bedspread or a sweater for anything more than a dog, but I love that I have jumped in and just started. Hell I was cable knitting the minute I figured how to purl on Youtube! What a comfort it has been. How many hospitals and car rides have I made endurable with some yarn and my knitting needles?
I did make four hats for my friend Avalon, three navy and one multicolored, and then threw in another one for her as I drew her name for Christmas. I hope she wears it in good health.
I look forward to 2014, and hope it's a better year than this one.

Uninspired
I'm knitting a hat- something I do when I am not feeling like knitting anything else. I am searching for the next big obsession and not really finding it. I will though. I usually do!

Yarn Overs
I am learning to be more comfortable with the dreaded yarn over. I am still not great at it but I keep trying. Made a lime green scarf to go with some lime green leg warmers, as one should. I plan on a hat, but I'm working on a sort of lace beanie. I have one in dark red right now I'm doing, and we'll see how that pans out.
I like the principle.
October used to be one of my favorite times of the year but I am just not feeling it right now. I wish I could be happy and excited, but ow well! I will keep on knitting, and maybe that will help.

Green Scarf
Because I do not have enough shit to drape around my neck, I am knitting a green scarf to go with some leg warmers I made last year...though I can't really recall where leg warmers are right now and I am not sure I would ever wear them. I also have another idea for a hat--skidding halt--not an original idea, but one I haven't tried yet. A simple beanie with no rib stitch band.
I think my knitting pisses off everyone I'm related to or anyone who is around me very long. Don't much care. I figure it's the only thing that keeps me even marginally sane. Being pulled between people just leaves me feeling stretched out and miserable.
Ugh why are people so mean?
I am not even remotely looking forward to work. Just not feelin' it y'all.

Scarves!
I went on a ruffled scarf spree- I think I made 6 of them. Then I was given some yarn by Liz for a hat and scarf for Mary. I am probably half finished with the hat, and then of course I'm making a baby set for my friend Jean, and I have the hat made for that....of course, hats have never been the problem. I can knit a hat in a couple hours. But, the booties and scarves are troublesome.
I do think my knitting drives people crazy, as it is one of those things that looks so fidgety and weird. You know who you are. So I say to hell with 'em.
I'm off today and I am taking mom out and about. It's a beautiful October day out there and maybe it will be nice.
We shall see.
