A beginner's trials and errors in the complex world of yarn and pointy sticks

That's the soft fuzzy hat. HIDEOUS! And yet I have more of the yarn so I may knit a furred collar to go with it. My problem with that fur yarn is every time I edge a hat with it and bind off, it becomes very tight. I must remember to make it significantly bigger, or loosen it. Or something. I've had to mess with it every time and that yarn is unforgiving. I mean 'unforgiving' in that you can't go back and fix a mistake. Or even unravel. It's a mess, and you have one shot to get it right.
As a last ditch attempt to quit smoking, I took up knitting. I have worked very hard to remain smoke free and have made hats for everyone I know. It's been back and forth and up and down. But I keep knitting.
I am a knitter who is still learning. I am married, 30 years, very involved in family and friends and my animals, which number only 3 now, two dogs, a cat. My cat is inherited, but no less loved for that, and my dogs are spoiled and demanding. They are pretty much the reason I get up in the morning and hold a job. In addition to knitting, I sew, design costumes, read history, watch lots of TV and enjoy target practice with my Ruger 380 and Glock 22c.
